The Committee for Brisbane has formally submitted its response on the Victoria Park Precinct Draft Legacy Plan consultation process.
Thank you to the many members who contributed insights and perspectives throughout the development of our submission. The future of Victoria Park presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create an enduring legacy for Brisbane, and it was important that our response reflected the collective expertise of our membership community.
While we strongly support the ambition outlined in the Draft Legacy Plan, our submission highlights five key recommendations to help maximise the precinct’s long-term value for Brisbane and the city-region:
1- Governance now to protect opportunities beyond 2032
Establish a long-term stewardship model that supports activation, effective management and financial sustainability across the precinct.
2- Looking beyond the precinct boundary
Consider how a reimagined Victoria Park will catalyse adjacent investment
3- Reconnecting Brisbane
Create connected transport corridors that are supported by a broader city movement strategy
4- Creating Australia’s leading sport, health and innovation precinct
Deliver a world-class destination for advancing sport, health, human performance and innovation
5- A park for everyday life
Focus on what will attract locals every day of the year
These recommendations are underpinned by a simple principle: Victoria Park should be planned and delivered not only as a Games legacy project, but as a defining civic asset that enhances Brisbane’s liveability, connectivity and economic prosperity for decades to come.
Committee for Brisbane remains committed to providing constructive, future-focused advocacy on the issues that matter most to our city. We look forward to continuing to engage with government, industry and the community as planning for the precinct progresses.
