Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics: 100-Day Review

The Committee for Brisbane welcomes the opportunity for industry and the community to provide input into the 100 Day Review.

Over the past couple of months, the Committee for Brisbane has been actively engaging with members to hear directly about what they want for Brisbane now and into the future.

In October 2024, the Committee for Brisbane held a workshop bringing together members who shared their ideas and aspirations for the Brisbane 2032 Games legacy.

Through these discussions we have heard that members would like transport and digital connectivity, creating a welcoming and memorable “front door” experience for visitors and ensuring the Games leave a lasting positive impact on Brisbane for generations to come are some of the key outcomes they would like to see from putting on this once in a lifetime event.

The feedback and insights gathered from member consultations will inform the Committee for Brisbane’s submission for the 100 Day Review.

Members are encouraged to send through any additional feedback or information they would like considered as part of the submission, by Tuesday, 17 December to jen@committeeforbrisbane.org.au

Last Day to Nominate for Sub-Committees

Today is the final day for nominations for the Committee for Brisbane’s 2025 and 2026 sub-committees.

Building on the great work of the 2023 and 2024 sub-committees, four new sub-committees will be appointed in the new year.

Based around the four strategic focus areas identified in the Committee for Brisbane’s strategic plan, we are seeing a cross-section of members to join new sub-committees to lead our advocacy and thought leadership on:

  • City Vision
  • Games Legacy and Growth
  • Transport, Logistics and Mobility
  • #BIG- Brisbane Idea Generators

More information and a link to the nomination portal can be found here.

Thank You to the Members of the 2023 and 2024 Sub-Committees

It has been a remarkable 18 months for the Committee for Brisbane Sub-Committees. During this period, sub-committee members have undertaken a series of projects and initiatives aimed at making Greater Brisbane the world’s most liveable place.

Highlights from the Sub-Committees:

  • Creativity Sub-Committee: This sub-committee shone a spotlight on Brisbane’s creatives by organising a performance by the Underground Opera for 430 attendees at the Lord Mayor’s Vision for Brisbane event.
  • Enterprise Sub-Committee: Explored Brisbane’s innovation ecosystems and revitalised the Innovation Mixers, bringing together innovators and industry leaders in the transport sector.
  • Equity Sub-Committee: Focused on employment for people with disability, this sub-committee worked to understand the challenges and opportunities for organisations to expand their employment of people with disability.
  • Connectivity Sub-Committee: They delved into connectivity issues, from the first and last mile of travel to more detailed discussions in the Reimagining Brisbane Connectivity podcast series. Sub-Committee members and guest speakers shared their knowledge and insights to help shape the future of Brisbane’s connectivity.

The Committee for Brisbane extends heartfelt thanks to all the members of the sub-committees for their time, energy, expertise, and enthusiasm in bringing these key strategic pillars to life. It is through these collaborative conversations that new ideas are generated, shaping Greater Brisbane now and into the future, as we look forward to the long-term legacy the Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics Games will bring.

Welcoming the newest addition to our skyline

The Committee for Brisbane took a private tour of the new Kangaroo Point Bridge

On Sunday, December 15, Brisbane City Council will unveil the highly anticipated Kangaroo Point Bridge, a stunning new addition to the city’s landscape. This state-of-the-art bridge will connect Brisbane’s bustling city centre to the vibrant suburb of Kangaroo Point, enhancing both local and visitor experiences across the river.

The Kangaroo Point Bridge is a game-changer for Brisbane, ushering in a new era of connectivity for residents and tourists alike. The bridge offers a seamless, eco-friendly way to navigate the river—whether by foot, scooting, or cycling. It’s a bridge that not only connects two places but also brings people together, encouraging outdoor exploration and offering a fresh perspective of Brisbane’s iconic skyline and river views.

The bridge will also be home to two exciting new dining spots. Stilts Dining and Mulga Bill’s, both set to open in 2025.

This is an exciting addition for Brisbane and elevates our cities infrastructure by providing an exciting new space for dining, community connection and recreation, and a great start to our connectivity journey in the leas up to 2032.

Thank you to Brisbane City Council and Peter Leeds for taking us on this tour.

Celebrating Queensland's Sporting Excellence

We had the privilege of attending the 2024 Queensland Sport Awards

In its 29th year, the 2024 Queensland Sport Awards and Hall of Fame Induction celebrated the extraordinary achievements of athletes, coaches, officials, administrators, and volunteers across the state. The evening highlighted the dedication, resilience, and passion of those who make Queensland’s sporting community so vibrant and successful.

Among the standout award recipients were Alexa Leary PLY, who was honoured with the Queensland Government Para-Athlete of the Year Award, and Chris Fagan, named Queensland Sport Coach of the Year for his exceptional leadership in guiding the Brisbane Lions to their 2024 Premiership victory.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the award winners and nominees. It was a truly memorable night, and we feel privileged to have been part of such a remarkable celebration.

The event also marked the induction of new members into the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame, with Pat Rafter elevated to Legend of Queensland Sport status—a well-deserved tribute to his lasting impact on the state’s sporting legacy.

This night served as a powerful reminder of the talent, hard work, and community spirit that drive Queensland’s sporting success.
