Committee for Capital Cities
The Committee for Capital Cities is a national collaboration of civic advocacy groups championing the people, productivity and strategic importance of Australia’s capital cities, which are home to two-thirds of the population and generate nearly 70 per cent of the nation’s GDP.
The Committee for Capital Cities is a collective of the nation’s civic advocacy groups, based in the capital cities of Brisbane, Greater Hobart, Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney.
It sets out a practical agenda for national urban policy, with six priorities that are grounded in place and designed to deliver the liveability, vibrancy and productivity Australia needs to thrive for generations to come.
New in 2025
On 14 October 2025, the Committee for Capital Cities officially launched the Federal Parliamentary Friends of Cities group, and announced the incoming Co Chairs:
– Simon Kennedy MP – Federal Member for Cook, NSW
– Kate Chaney MP – Federal Member for Curtin, WA
– Senator Richard Dowling – Senator for Tasmania.
