Brisbane 2033: Legacy Project

Measuring Our City-Region- Connectivity, productivity and global identity

Join the Committee for Brisbane and Council of Mayors (SEQ) as we unveil the highly anticipated update to ‘Benchmarking South East Queensland (SEQ) in a Global Context’. This new independent analysis builds upon the groundbreaking independent analysis in 2017 that positioned SEQ as a global reference point for benchmarking city-regions.

In a rapidly evolving global landscape, SEQ has adapted to challenges and seized opportunities, from navigating the disruptions of COVID-19 to securing the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This event and landmark publication offers a fresh perspective, benchmarking SEQ against comparable international peer city-regions, such as Barcelona, Vancouver, Busan, San Diego and Hamburg. This fresh Benchmark identifies SEQ’s comparative strengths, gaps, and pathways to global competitiveness through a robust international analysis of hundreds of benchmarks, interviews, and insights from over 150 regional leaders.

This event will explore the region’s future opportunities in infrastructure development, economic diversification and global brand identity, informed by the latest international policy innovations in trade, technology, and talent attraction. Be part of the conversation shaping SEQ’s trajectory as a globally competitive and liveable region. Together, we’ll chart the next chapter in building a prosperous, connected, and future-ready SEQ.
